So, this came up in my Facebook feed today.

"A woman allegedly gave her ex-lover a cooler that held the deceased remains of
her miscarried fetus, saying, "here's your kid."".

I am not sure what I find scarier..

That she was only charged with harrasment (I would think this might be crossing
the line into stalking. Though since the child aborted naturaly I guess there
was no implied threat.

or

That the majority of the comments actually side with her, mostly because he did
not believe she was pregnant.

However, with her obvious tenuous hold on mental health, I don't think I would believe her on face value either.

I figured he crossposted the original, but I did see his response to me
come through once in each echo, both with a "Z1" origin line. As there have recently been quite a few posts in Dove Debate that have not "crossed over," I wonder if maybe it is a system that just recently added one of the networks
(or echoes).

FWIW, this post from you only came to me via the Dove side.

Anyone getting the DOVE echoes from me via ftn are using a Z723 address,
which I picked because your system also uses that zone. ;)

Correct. I had this happen to me a very long time ago, and made the changes to separate the two. Using the default config for Dovenet when setting it up, as well as hooking up to Fidonet, you end up cross posting messages by using the same message base files.

Anyone getting the DOVE echoes from me via ftn are using a Z723 address, which I picked because your system also uses that zone. ;)

Here is the PATH from one of Rug Rats original posts on the Fido side, and I replied to one of your messages that came in via Fido with the PATH there also:

@PATH: 135/250 115 3634/12 2320/105 229/426 218/700 840 770/1 280/464

So it seems your address is in both, and the one you posted starts at your system, and the one Rug Rat posted goes through your system. That could mean that Rug Rat is just posting to the fido side, and your system is the one bringing it to Dovenet.

Otherwise, I can't see any other correlation between the two PATHs that stands out..

All good, figured I'd point it out so the appropriate parties can look into it.

It's not really a configuration problem on the sysop's end. It's two separate networks that, by default, use the same internal code and possibly even Fidonet areatag (when a prefix is not in use). Anyone who sets the two up will come across this, unless they start out right away by changing the internal code and using a prefix for the areatag, for one network or the other, so they aren't the same.

i think it really is a configuration problem. and maybe something that needs to be addressed because it's happened so much. people to need to pay attention to what they are doing when they are connected to networked msg boards. and like i said before, having all the different msg areas in the same place is messy.

It is hard to say, because information in social media is completely distorted more often than not.

In Spain she would get charged for misshandling biological human tissue of "meaningful entity". Long story short, if an Hospital amputates a hand because of medical reasons, you cannot go out on the streets with it showing it off to everybody.

You are replying to my post to you here because I only posted it here as I
have not been seeing your posts in Fido DEBATE, *only* here, so I wouldn't likely respond to them on *FIDO*. ;)

As you see above, I am not using the same files, tags, or the default
config. When I check my Fido DEBATE and Dove DEBATE areas, as a user, I am *not* seeing the same messsages, either.

Unless a copy of sbbsecho that was compiled in July waited three months and then started treating "DEBATE" as equal to "DOVE-DEBATE," I don't see any issues on this end.

My internal codes and area tags are different here. Someone likely added
FIDO to their synchronet board and used DEBATE as their internal code for
FIDO DEBATE which, in the synchronet install, is/used to be the default internal code for this DOVE echo.

I actually can believe that someone might have made that error.

I don't use the default internal code for *either* echo here. Dove is DOVE-DEB, and FIDO is DEBATEF, and I can tell they are different just by checking what messages are in each one. DOVE DEBATE is active, where the FIDO echo very much is *not*.

Most definitely! And yeah, I believe it was only the two of you in a brief discussion on the Fido side and it ended up on Dovenet. I, too, think it may have only been one way, unless somehow Synchronet is catching it and not allowing it to go back to Fido.

I would believe the latter if it were the case, since Synchronet is usually far ahead of most things Fidonet related.

No idea. I just think I'm going crazy when I read things twice. I try to purposely skip reading the legit Dovenet gated echos to Fidonet, so I only read them once. Otherwise I'm replying to the same conversation via both, depending where I read it first. ;)
